About
A calm hand over a fragmented industry.
South Africa's funeral industry is dominated by legacy operators. Every one of them is transactional — forms first, empathy second. It hasn't meaningfully changed in decades.
Ever After sits in the gap: a modern, design-led funeral brand that treats the send-off as something worth designing. Experience-first, not forms-first.
We don't own mortuaries. We don't sell insurance. We don't upsell. We are the brand, the experience, and the calm hand that holds the family through the worst week of their life.
The regulated work — body custody, preparation, the statutory signature — sits with a licensed partner mortuary. We own the relationship, the ceremony, and the care. Margin lives in trust, not in owning a cold room.
Future funerals for the modern mortal — a better way to leave the world.

The founder
Carla le Roux
Carla le Roux is a facilitator, coach, writer, and practitioner of the inner arts with more than twenty-five years of experience exploring the intersections of meaning, ritual, spirituality, and human development.
“Death, like birth, is not simply an event to be managed, but a profound passage to be honoured.”
She holds a Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Stellenbosch and completed studies in Women's Studies at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. She also holds an Honours degree in Brand Strategy from Vega School, and most recently completed the Coaching for Development and Professional Coaching programme through the Centre for Coaching at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.
Throughout her career, Carla has worked at the intersection of storytelling, leadership, personal transformation, and human experience. Alongside her work in learning design and executive education, she is the founder of Modern Muse — a practice dedicated to helping people navigate life's transitions through tarot, astrology, spiritual inquiry, and reflective conversation.
For more than two decades, she has studied and facilitated practices that help people make meaning of change, uncertainty, grief, love, identity, and purpose. Her approach combines deep listening, ritual, coaching, mythology, and contemplative practice to create spaces where people feel genuinely seen, held, and understood.
Ever After Returns emerges from this lifelong fascination with what it means to be human. It is an extension of Carla's belief that life's most significant transitions deserve to be met with beauty, dignity, care, and meaning.
Drawing on a lifetime of studying both the practical and the sacred dimensions of human experience, Carla brings a unique perspective to end-of-life care: one that honours grief, celebrates legacy, and creates space for families to navigate loss with tenderness, presence, and grace.
